Our newest Phantom® 6-string guitar, in the "NEW" color: Salmon.

Taken from Peter Asher's prototype 12-string, this guitar could have become the first Phantom® 12 ever made. It had a very unusual "dual truss rod" system which never appeared on any other Phantom® 12-string.

Peter received the guitar from JMI/UK in early 1964 and it displays the distinctive "Phantom" logo, in silver, on the headstock. Due to these facts, and some others too, we have decided to add this unique color to our lineup. Rumored to be the JMI version of "fiesta red" it truly is a totally new shade of orange/red...and we call it what it looks like: Salmon.

This is going to be a limited edition...available in 6, 9, and 12-string.

The story goes like this, right after "A Hard Days Night" was recorded in 1964, a lot of 12-string guitars started to hit the market, and one of those to enter the market was JMI from the UK.

For only one year they used this headstock (see picture to the left), which to me is the best looking 12-string headstock ever made; would you not agree?

At any rate, this is our new for 2008 - 1964 re-issue PH12 model, with matching all black neck. So, and this is exciting, this headstock was never seen here in the United States and was only produced for one year before the decision was made to change the headstock to the more squared off type that was the norm from 1965 on. But once again, we feel that this headstock was so beautiful that it had to resurface here in 2007.

You now actually get to own a true piece of history!

NOTE: There is also going to be a 1964 re-issue TDbj12 (Teardrop®) which uses the same headstock design, and was the model Brian played for a short time until they made him a 3-pickup model. More on the re-issue 12-string to follow shortly.
